2017 in review…

As I type this, I’m sitting in one of Nashville’s best new coffee spots – Sump. It’s a rare occasion that I actually pull my laptop out in one of these places to actually sit and spend some time stealing wifi while sipping some warm deliciousness. It’s nice!

At the dawn of this new year, I’m looking forward to enjoying more things like this. My little fledgling “side hustle” of a business that you see before your eyes at this very moment is becoming more robust than I ever fathomed, and it’s simultaneously shocking and exciting. Some exciting work to come even in just the first quarter of this year, so stay tuned.

Looking back – here are some of my favorite projects/moments/etc from 2017… A year that was a rolling garbage can in so many ways still had some pretty bright spots.

5. Rush | Time Stand Still (Documentary)

Yes, while this technically came out in November of 2016, I still spent a good part of the year pushing it. I will forever love this band, and it is a constant honor to get to work for them. This gem is about to become RIAA Gold Certified® in the US!

4. Big Wreck | Grace Street

Yet another Canadian juggernaut I’m proud to be associated with, the new website, new album, and still-to-come video work I’m getting to do with Ian Thornley and company are nothing short of special.

3. India Ramey | Snake Handler

Creating the artwork and packaging for my good friend India was truly the start of something special. A quiet record release has now taken her to being reviewed by the likes of Rolling Stone Country and beyond. Extremely proud of this work and her!

2. Gregg Allman | Southern Blood

One of the biggest highlights of this year – and my CAREER – was the opportunity to get to create the DVD and Official Video assets, as well as marketing assets and merchandise for Gregg Allman’s farewell album.

1. ALJ Innovations!

I’ve never taken myself seriously. Which, in my opinion, is a good thing sometimes. I’ve never had a good online representation for myself because I’ve always been to busy making other people’s. So, I’m thankful that I finally took the time to do this, and rebrand myself for what is hopefully a bright future. Can’t wait to see what’s to come.

Here’s to a happy and healthy 2018, and more of these peaceful coffee shop/working from home days.
